Advocates

Activists, journalists and others who can raise awareness of deworming:

Worms are not glamorous and much of the damage they cause is hidden—a lethargic child who appears unmotivated but is actually just sick. We are looking for interested individuals or organizations that can help raise the profile of deworming, encourage governments and others to implement deworming programs, and donors to finance them.

A key element of advocacy is emphasizing that while the health benefits to deworming are substantial, the benefits to education are extremely large.  Deworming is a cost-effective way of increasing access to education. Achieving government led nation wide programs that are systematic, scaled and sustainable can help us work towards the aims of Education for All and the Millennium Development Goals.

The Deworming Advocacy Kit has been developed to provide you with the information you need to help raise the profile of deworming. The Advocacy Kit includes:
• Fact Sheet on Worms and Deworming
• The Economic Argument for Deworming
• Policy Briefcase describing the empirical evidence behind deworming
• School Deworming at a Glance
• Pamphlet for distribution
