Step 2: Rapid Appraisal

Before you can make a plan, you need to know whether there are worms in your area and, if so, how prevalent they are and of what species.

This appraisal has already been done for many areas. If it has already been done for your area we can help you access this information.

Sub-Saharan Africa: Considerable data on prevalence has both been generated using predictive tools and collected through surveys. Preliminary maps of predicted prevalence of Soil Transmitted Helminth (STH) in some countries are available through this site and more will be available shortly. Over time we plan to develop more detailed maps which will allow you to read off prevalence in your area and help inform planning. Until these are developed we recommend that you contact Deworm the World at contact@dewormtheworld.org and, to the extent possible, we will link you with what information is available on prevalence in your area.

Asia: Information for some countries in Asia is available from the WHO Global Databank website.
