The Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL) is a center in the economics department of MIT which serves as a focal point for development and poverty research based on randomized trials. The objective is to improve the effectiveness of poverty programs by providing policy makers with clear scientific results about the effectiveness of alternative programs. Research by Professors Miguel and Kremer (both members of J-PAL) is a critical part of the evidence base supporting the effectiveness of school based deworming programs. A literature review by J-PAL shows that deworming is the most cost-effective of all the alternative ways to increase schooling.

J-PAL’s support of Deworm the World is part of its mission to translate research into action.
